Under 14's 2 - 0 NFC Kesh (NIBFA CUP)
Carrick Colts under 14s sponsored by Reavey & Co Solicitors travelled to Fermanagh on saturday 30/01/10 to play FC Kesh in the National League Cup. Carrick started well and soon had the home team penned back in their own half . Carrick continued to press and after good play down the right wing Sipho Banda was sent clear into the penalty area where he was fouled and Jonathan Hodge scored from the resulting penalty to put his side 1-0 up. The Carrick defense was playing well as a unit with Sam Taylor winning the aerial battle with the Kesh centre forward.
After a long clearance by Ryan Swain the ball was flicked on to Jonathan Hodge who ran clear and lobbed the Kesh goalkeeper to put his side 2-0 up,The home side tried to get back into the game and went close to scoring when a free kick came back off the bar and was cleared by the Carrick defense.Just before halftime Kesh were awarded a free kick and again were unlucky to see the ball come off the bar.

Kesh continued to press after the restart but with the Carrick defense playing very well , Carrick were comfortabley holding on to their lead.As the game progressed Carrick were looking dangerous on the break and after a pass from Andrew Wallace to Matt McIlfatrick who sent Sipho Banda clear Carrick almost scored a 3rd goal but his shot deflected unto the bar and out for a corner. From the corner Jack Spencer almost scored from close range. After another break from Carrick down the right wing the ball was crossed to Jonathan Hodge who saw his shot go narrowly wide . Kesh continue to press but with Andrew Wallace, Roy McNiece and Ryan McCleery all playing well in the Carrick defense ,Kesh were unable to break them down.
Carrick had several more chances to score but the Kesh goalkeeper made some good saves to keep the score at 2-0. Just before the end Zac Cairns was unlucky to see his shot come back off the bar. Overall this was a very good performance from the Carrick team and they totally deserved their win.
