Under 12's 3 - 2 Carryduff / 26/09/09
This week (26/09/09) saw the under 12s travel to Ormeau park, Belfast, to play Carryduff under 12’s.After a convincing win over Ards youth in our first match of this new season, and a heavy defeat to North Belfast last week, we knew we had to raise our game against Carryduff.
Both teams started well, finding space down the left hand sides. Though it was Carrick who where able to take the lead first.A superb move in midfield saw Frederick Nicholl slot the ball through for Lindsay Carroll to run on to, and at the second attempt he slotted the ball under the keeper to put Carrick 1 up.
Carryduff came on strong and after a mix up between the Carrick keeper and defender Carryduff equalised. It was not long before Carrick where back in front, yet again Frederick Nicholl was involved down the left, a neat one two with Lindsay Carroll produced a corner. Sam Lilburn swung it in and it was Carricks captain Conor Malcolmson up from centre half to head the ball home 2-1. Carryduff refused to lie down and after a neat move down their left the ball fell to their man on the edge of the box, who fired home unchallenged from 18 yards.
The second half saw Carrick spring into action and after some neat footwork from Cain Tumelty the ball fell nicely for Sam Lilburn who fired a looping shot high up over the keeper and into the net to make it 3-2 to Carrick. Then with 14 mins left on the clock the referee called a halt to the match, the Carryduff manager had collapsed at the side of the pitch and had to be taking away by ambulance. This was a total shock to all involved, and Carrick Rangers Colts would like to send their very best wishes to all involved with Carryduff.
